Honesty is a positive and popular notion. The practice of honesty however is an entirely different story. In theory, we all pursue it; in reality though, we often let truth be obscured by fear, selfish pursuits and the illusion that by presenting an inaccurate image of a person, event or circumstance, we may control the reaction of the person opposite us to those, and most importantly, that we may restore our own image within, which we saw reflected and jeopardised  through the contact with said person or event.

The chart of Monday's New Moon, with coordinates for Athens, Greece, indicates the establishment of conditions suitable to push such behaviour to the limit, so that it may become from mechanical and unconscious, perceivable and open to change. The stage where this mini drama will be enacted will be no other than our family environment and our simple, everyday contacts.

Our tendency to speak “half truths” or “innocent lies” will be mainly ignited by the fact that our routine is becoming pressing and the things that demand our care numerous, leaving little or no time to spend on us and the challenging psychological processes occurring within us. So, resorting to a pleasant and sociable chatter as well as scattering our attention to a thousand things at a time, clearly becomes a preferable, easier and temporarily more effective solution.

Essentially, the question posed by this New Moon is whether the end justifies the means, and whether securing our comfort by ignoring persistent psychological urges to reconsider things in our life, is, in the end, a worthy cause.

It is undoubtedly difficult to shed light and decide to acknowledge what we already know within because that would mean that we ought to start acting in a different manner. Nevertheless, it would be worth introducing time as a variable in our equation and consider that the things we sweep under the carpet will not disappear in its passing but will only multiply so long as we choose not to take care of them.

The fear arising from the possibility of openly examining what we have meticulously hidden is certainly great, but if we think it through, the longer we keep up this tactic, the more this fear will grow and the more pressure we will come under. So maybe this astrological event should be considered an opportunity to open a crack and let a ray of light in or an opportunity to make a new, better start, and not a cosmic punishment. In the end, the only thing that troubles us here is our choices and their consequences. Let’s be romantic and even call it “conscience”.

Try again. Fail again. Fail better”
